It inspires me to be a better person and makes me feel good.
When I was little I did not really like it, because back then light for me did not have that meaning like now. My associations with light were just about lamps and ordinary day-to-day stuff. I wanted a name like Catherine or something pompous of that sort.
I have grown to not only love my name but to be proud of it and try to give light there, where is dark when I can. I think that names can magnify our personas and show that we are at peace with who we are.

However, it wasn't always so. When I was younger I didn't like gold and thus I didn't like my name. I didn't like gold because in my mind it was associated with greed, power, envy, pomposity, etc. But when I grew up a bit and learned a little bit more about the properties of this precious material and why a lot of virtues are being compared to it, I intentionally revised my attitude toward it and toward my name itself. Then I realized that it's important to like and appreciate your name.
I also think that every name should have a special meaning behind it. When you name your child the name you choose should include some kind of blessing in itself Show more

Christmas for me is the biggest holiday during the year. Even though my name day is on the day when all the people with "flower" names celebrate, my heart is stuck with Christmas and everything that this holiday represents. Show more
Born by the sea. This is what my name means. May be I am supposed to be clean and salty, and bitter, and hidden in way. Mysterious like the sea. I am not sure that I am like that. Although I do believe my name suits me better that every other name ever could.
They say that a person's name defines his/her destiny. Here in Bulgaria we believe strong in the names' power. That is why we celebrate our name days, sometimes with even more passion than our birthdays. The name days are not only a personal holiday, but a common celebration that you share with everyone who has the same name.
People from all over the world are astonished by the name day tradition. “So everyone with this name has a holiday today? They're all buying drinks for their friends on this day”, they ask me.
Yes, and more. We celebrate the power that our names give us. We celebrate this common spirit of love and energy that everyone with the same name share on that day. We celebrate ourselves and everyone at the same time. We celebrate what we have inherited from our ancestors, because what we are is a lot more that what we have done in a lifetime; our path and knowledge is the path and knowledge of millions before us. And if there is a way they communicate with us, it is the words that they have left us and have grown with us. It is our names and we celebrate them.
In words there is power, there is sense for the objects they represent. The same goes about the names – there are hidden traces in every name, regardless of if it is a name of a saint or of a relative, or just the sound of it liked to your parents.
So, yes, I don't know if I am a sea, but I do know, that my name is a big part of who I am.
Do you know what your name means?
