When people stay in our family hotel, they often tell us their stories. I don't know what is it that inspires them - is it the sun, the vacation, the sea (it knows more secrets that one can imagine), or maybe is just that people come off their regular stressed life, where they are careful with their words and what they share and words just flood out.
The last amazing story I was told is about a couple. The man was living in Italy, running his family business in a small restaurant. The woman is a Russian from Moscow with successful career in finance. One summer, let's call her Nastya, went to Italy with her friends for several days for sightseeing and spaghetti, and sunshine. Of course, one day they visited, let's c all him Juzepe's restaurant. He and Nastya got into talking, the communication was difficult, but exciting. The conversation ended with an agreement for a date in the evening. "I don't know if it was the wine, the cheese or the spaghetti, but I really got interested in him. I normally don't do that", smiles Nastya.
They started seeing each other and had, as was thinking Juzepe, a brief affair for the time Masha was in Italy.
A few days later he sent her home on a plane. They continued to talk on the phone, but Juzepe wasn't putting much into it. Soon after that Nastya had a great idea - why didn't Juzepe go to Moscow for two weeks? Juzepe wasn't at all keen on the idea, but promised to think about it. They continued the conversations over the phone and Nastya ask a few more times Juzepe to go to her. He was still thinking.
At the end around Christmas (!) Nastya lost her nerves and told him that if he didn't go, that was that with them. She believed that this was the end and, to be honest, said she laughing, she didn't suffer much because she saw it as difficult and doomed relationship. But to everyone's surprise, including his shocked mother and his own, Juzepe packed his stuff and flew to Moscow. They had a magical (and cold) Russian Christmas together. It was then, explained to me Juzepe, when he knew it was over for him - there wasn't a way for him to leave her.
In the end, unfortunately, he had to leave her anyway and go back to work. They started speaking on the phone again, but it was just not enough. So, Nastya took the things into her hands again and purposed to Juzepe to take three mounts off work and to go to Italy. If things worked out, she would leave work and stay. If not - she would go back to Moscow and continue with her life. She never went back to Moscow.
It is there real life stories that make you smile and believe in us, people. In the end, what matters are our choices about the life we would like to have and the stories we would like to write.
